PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Sablan to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - The Chair announced that she had examined the Journal of the last day's proceedings and had approved it. Ms. Ros-Lehtinen demanded that the question be put on agreeing to the Speaker's approval of the Journal and by voice vote, the Chair announced that the ayes had prevailed. Ms. Ros-Lehtinen objected to the voice vote based upon the absence of a quorum and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of the Speaker's approval of the Journal until later in the legislative day.

Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.

The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of April 24.

The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. today.

MORNING-HOUR DEBATE - The House proceeded with Morning-Hour Debate. At the conclusion of Morning-Hour, the House will recess until 2:00 p.m. for the start of legislative business.

The House received a message from the Senate. The Senate passed S. 2325 and H.R. 4300.

The Speaker designated the Honorable Bruce Poliquin to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

The House convened, starting a new legislative day.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on April 23, 2018 at 1:02 p.m.: That the Senate agreed to H. Con. Res. 115. Interparliamentary Group and the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

The Speaker announced that the House do now adjourn. The next meeting is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on April 24, 2018.

The House received a communication from Brian Perkins, District Director, The Honorable Jackie Speier. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Mr. Perkins notified the House that he had been served with a subpoena for testimony as a witness in a criminal trial issued by the Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Mateo and that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel he had determined that compliance with the subpoena was consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.

ADJUSTED WHOLE NUMBER OF THE HOUSE - Under clause 5(d) of rule 20, the Chair announced to the House that, in light of the resignation of the gentleman from Oklahoma, Mr. Bridenstine, the whole number of the House is 429.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on April 19, 2018 at 3:16 p.m.: That the Senate agreed to S. Res. 474.

The House received a communication from Representative Bridenstine wherein he resigns as a member of the House of Representatives effective at 10:30 a.m. on April 23, 2018.
