The House received a communication from Jenifer Megan Bel Miller, Chief of Staff, Rep. Steve Scalise. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Ms. Miller notified the House that she had been served with a subpoena for testimony in a criminal trial issued by the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, and that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel, she had determined that compliance with the subpoena was consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.

COLLOQUY ON HOUSE SCHEDULE - The Chair recognized Mr. Scalise for the purpose of engaging in a colloquy with Mr. Hoyer on the expectations regarding the legislative schedule for the House during the upcoming week.

DEBATE - The House proceeded with 10 minutes of debate on the Meuser motion to recommit with instructions. The instructions contained in the motion seek to require the bill to be reported back to the House with an amendment adding a section pertaining to Small Business Surivival which shall not apply to an enterprise that employs fewer than 10 individuals and whose annual gross volume of sales made or business done is less than $1,000,000.

Mr. Meuser moved to recommit with instructions to the Committee on Education and Labor.
