The Speaker announced that the House do now adjourn pursuant to section 2(b) of H. Res. 1012. The next meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on August 24, 2018.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on August 20, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.: That the Senate agreed to S. Res. 609.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair led the House in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - Pursuant to section 2(a) of H. Res. 1012, the Journal of the last day's proceedings was approved.

The House received a communication from Sara Rogers. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Ms. Rogers notified the House that she had been served with a grand jury subpoena for testimony, issued by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and that after consultation with counsel, she will make the determinations required by Rule VIII.

The House received a communication from Mark Roman. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Mr. Roman notified the House that he had been served with a grand jury subpoena for testimony, issued by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and that after consultation with counsel, he will make the determinations required by Rule VIII.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on August 16, 2018 at 12:08 p.m.: That the Senate agreed to the amendment of the House of Representatives to the bill S. 717.
