Joint Economic Committee - Pursuant to 15 U.S.C. 1024(a), and the order of the House of January 3, 2019, the Speaker appointed the following members of the House to the Joint Economic Committee: Mr. Schweikert, Mr. LaHood, Mr. Marchant and Ms. Herrera Beutler.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk transmitted a sealed envelope received from the White House on March 15, 2019, at 4:42 p.m., said to contain a message from the President returning without his approval H.J. Res. 46, a Joint Resolution relating to a national emergency declared by the President on February 15, 2019.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on March 14, 2019, at 3:02 p.m.: that the Senate agreed to S.J. Res. 7 and H.J. Res. 46.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair led the House in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - Pursuant to section 2(a) of H. Res. 208, the Journal of the last day's proceedings was approved.

Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.

The Speaker designated the Honorable Jamie Raskin to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
