SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - The Chair announced that she had examined the Journal of the last day's proceedings and had approved it. Ms. Ros-Lehtinen demanded that the question be put on agreeing to the Speaker's approval of the Journal and by voice vote, the Chair announced that the ayes had prevailed. Ms. Ros-Lehtinen objected to the voice vote based upon the absence of a quorum and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of the Speaker's approval of the Journal until later in the legislative day.

The House received a communication from Brian Perkins, District Director, The Honorable Jackie Speier. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Mr. Perkins notified the House that he had been served with a subpoena for testimony as a witness in a criminal trial issued by the Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Mateo and that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel he had determined that compliance with the subpoena was consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.
