Res. 145 — "Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 8) to require a background check for every firearm sale, and providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 1112) to amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to strengthen the background check procedures to be followed before a Federal firearms licensee may transfer a firearm to a person who is not such a licensee."

The House received a communication from The Honorable Frank Pallone, Jr., Chairmain, Committee on Energy and Commerce. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Chairman Pallone notified the House that the Committee on Energy and Commerce has been served with a subpoena for documents issued by the United States District Court for the Central District of California and that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel, he had determined that compliance with the subpoena is not consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.
